Have you ever had one of those days when cooking is the last thing on your mind? You’re not by yourself.
With hectic schedules, it’s simple to fall into the habit of grabbing frozen dinners or making the same old mac and cheese.
But what if you could enjoy a tasty homemade dish without spending hours in the kitchen?
That’s where slow cookers come into play.
Kayli Butler, a popular mom and social media star, shared an easy and yummy recipe for teriyaki chicken that’s just right for those busy days.
As Kayli puts it, “It’s perfect for parents on-the-go, college kids, or anyone who is always rushing.”
The best part? It’s super easy to make and needs very little effort.
To create this “Quick and Easy Teriyaki Chicken,” you’ll need just a few items:
- frozen chicken breasts (5 or 6)
- cup of brown sugar
- cup of soy sauce
- baby carrots
- diced broccoli
If you want to add more veggies, feel free to toss in some favorites like onions, peppers or cauliflower.
Kayli got this recipe from a friend & it has become a family favorite.
The recipe can easily be changed to fit your family size & tastes so don’t worry if you need to adjust it slightly.
Just keep in mind that since it’s a slow cooker dish, you’ll need about seven hours for cooking time.
The steps are really simple.
First off place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
Next add brown sugar & soy sauce on top.
Kayli says any brand of soy sauce works fine so no need to worry about finding something special.
Set your slow cooker on “high” & let it cook for around five hours.
After the first five hours, it’s time to add the baby carrots.
The amount is totally up to you!
As Kayli says, “Just put in as many carrots as you want. If you don’t like carrots, don’t add a lot. Or, you can skip them if that’s what you prefer.”
Once you’ve added the carrots, let it cook for another hour.
Next, toss in the chopped broccoli.
If you’re a fan of veggies, this is a great time to add any other vegetables you like.
Onions, peppers or cauliflower would be awesome choices.
After adding your veggies, cover it again and let it cook for one more hour.
And just like that your teriyaki chicken is ready to serve!
This flexible dish can be enjoyed in many ways.
Serve it plain or over rice or noodles or even on top of a salad.
It’s a tasty and healthy meal with almost no effort from you.
A lot of people who have tried this recipe love it.
One person said “I made this and it was so yummy!”
Another wrote “Oh my gosh I made this and everyone loved it! My whole family enjoyed it and there are eight of us aged 5 to 46. That says a lot. Thanks Kayli.”
