Also called lookout point, vista point, or scenic overlook, viewpoints represent, generally elevated, locations where people can view the scenery.
Here are some of the most interesting viewpoints with beautiful sceneries around the world:
Tungeneset, Norway
The Tungeneset viewpoint point is located in Norway, on the peninsula separating Steinsfjord from Ersfjord. The walkway is constructed with Siberian larch wood and lets viewers enjoy the Norweigan Sea and Okshornan mountain range, which is also known as Devil’s Jaw. Visitors also come here to see the northern lights or just to have a picnic.
Stegastein Viewpoint, Norway
Stegastein is another lookout point located in Norway, built 630 meters above the fjord. The 30-meter-tall viewpoint is built from pine and steel and has a glass balustrade at the end to allow visitors to see the view looking over Aurland fjord. For that reason, it is also known as the Aurland Lookout.
Sarpi Border Checkpoint, Georgia
Although it is used as a checkpoint, the building at the Sarpi Border has interesting architecture and allows visitors to enjoy the scenery of the Black Sea.
Sjøormtårnet, Norway
Standing at the tip of the Lake Seljordsvatnet, the viewpoint was built to watch for the Sea Serpent, a symbol of the town of Seljord. The 17-meter-tall wooden tower was built in 2011.
Columbia Icefield Glacier Skywalk, United States
Opened in 2014, the Columbia Viewpoint overlooks the largest icefield of the Rocky Mountains and Sunwapta Valley. Because the connecting part of the platform is made of glass, it is known as Skywalk. It is about 300 meters above the valley and is a kilometer long.
